Lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n

“Building Community by Welcoming Diversity” is a full-day workshop. It is an interactive, participatory program designed to promote awareness and increase sensitivity to the many similarities and differences among individuals and groups in our society.<\/p>\n

This workshop helps participants to:<\/p>\n

–Celebrate their similarities and differences<\/p>\n

–Identify the misinformation that they have learned about other groups<\/p>\n

–Recognize the internalized negative feelings and behaviors that they direct towards members if their own groups<\/p>\n

–Claim pride in their own group identities<\/p>\n

–Learn about the personal impact of discrimination through the telling of stories<\/p>\n

–Be empowered by learning concrete tools for effectively interrupting prejudicial remarks, jokes, slurs, and behaviors<\/p>\n
