On May 7, faculty, students and alumni from the Dental Hygiene Department participated in oral screenings and education for the Special Olympic Athletes participating in the Super Regional Games at Shenendehowa High School.<\/p>\n

Over 300 Special Olympic Athletes from around New York State were competing in the games that included Track & Field, Basketball and Skill Competition Games. Students from the Dental Hygiene program from the classes of 2012, 2017, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 were in attendance to help perform oral screenings, provide oral self care instruction, and also distribute fabricated athletic mouth guards.<\/p>\n

All volunteers were able to also participate in the opening ceremonies as well as cheering the athletes on during the day’s competition.<\/p>\n
