Rensselaer County Legislature approves HVCC\u2019s 2023-24 budget

TROY, N.Y. \u2014 At its recent meeting, the Rensselaer County Legislature unanimously approved the 2023-24 operating budget for Hudson Valley Community College. The budget totals $98,967,577, a 7.6 percent increase from fiscal year 2022-23.<\/p>\n
Enrollment for the next academic year is projected to increase by 3.2% or 6,607 full-time equivalent (FTE) students. This is the third consecutive year of rising enrollment \u2013 a positive indicator for the college, the area\u2019s workforce, and the economy.<\/p>\n
After holding tuition flat for three consecutive years, tuition for 2023-24 is set at $2,528 per semester for full-time students with New York State residence, an increase of $11 per credit or $128 per semester.<\/p>\n
Hudson Valley\u2019s tuition remains among the lowest in the SUNY system. In 2022-23, the college\u2019s tuition rate was the fifth lowest of all 30 community colleges in the state.<\/p>\n
In addition, approximately 80 percent of Hudson Valley students benefit from financial aid or grants, and the college\u2019s Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships each year to make college more accessible.<\/p>\n
The college\u2019s Board of Trustees unanimously approved the budget plan on June 27.<\/p>\n
