Health advocacy initiatives\u00a0 empower students, faculty and staff to be engaged and\u202ftake responsibility for health-related matters. The emphasis is self-care to promote overall wellness. We aspire to build a trusting and supportive relationship with the\u202fcommunity we serve. This means being respectful, empathetic, honest and non-judgmental.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting Care<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents can be seen on a walk-in basis during office hours. Feel free to stop in to make a walk-in appointment with the nurse practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of common complaints (acute self-limited illnesses) seen in Health Services:\u00a0 allergies, bladder\/urinary infection, conjunctivitis (Pink eye), rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sinusitis, ear infections, sore throat, sprains\/strains, insect bites, respiratory infections, migraines, mononucleosis.<\/p>\n<p>If you have an accident or incident while on campus, please stop into Health Services to submit a report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fees<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No fees for\u00a0 services\u00a0 for medical\u00a0 appointments<\/li>\n<li>No fees for in-house CLIA Waived\u00a0 Laboratory diagnostics testing<\/li>\n<li>No fees for in-house pharmacy for limited medications<\/li>\n<li>Free MMR vaccines<\/li>\n<li>Free COVID-19 home test kits<\/li>\n<li>Students are responsible for the cost of the prescription sent to an external pharmacy (CVS, Rite Aid, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Students are responsible for the cost of diagnostic labs sent to community partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Collaborative Initiatives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Every other Tuesday, students in need of insurance can meet with a facilitated enroller to obtain health insurance<\/li>\n<li>Sept. 20:\u00a0 Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines Clinic (<a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/save-the-date-health-services-hosts-flu-vaccine-clinic-on-sept-20\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for registration information<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li>Oct. 18: Panel Discussion on Suicide Prevention, Hazing, Bullying and its impact on physical and mental health with speakers from Alliance for Positive Health, The American Suicide Prevention Foundation, Capital District LGBTQIA,\u00a0 and Equinox.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Health promotions will be posted in the Campus Chronicle and Student Announcements.<br \/>\nHealth Services will also participate in College Forum classes<\/p>\n<p>For any questions or concerns, please contact Health Services<\/p>\n<p>Siek Campus Center,\u00a0 Suite 270<br \/>\n(518) 629-7468<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:healthservice@hvcc.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">healthservice@hvcc.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Published:<\/strong>\u00a0Thu, 07 Sep 2023 12:05:27 +0000 by\u00a0c.potvingiordano<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Welcome to Hudson Valley Community College Health Services!
