{"id":2113,"date":"2011-02-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-25T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/three-day-ncbi-train-the-trainer-program\/"},"modified":"2011-02-25T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-02-25T05:00:00","slug":"three-day-ncbi-train-the-trainer-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/three-day-ncbi-train-the-trainer-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Three-Day NCBI Train-The-Trainer Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This will be the final NCBI three-day <i><b>Train-The-Trainer<\/i><\/b> program here at the college for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Hudson Valley Community College is hosting its 12th National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) three-day Train-The-Trainer program and invites administrators, faculty and staff. Fifteen &#8220;seats&#8221; are reserved for HVCC and EOC employees. <b>Please note: There is no registration fee, but participants must attend for all three days.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The program will be held on Friday to Sunday, Mar. 4-6, in the Exhibition room on the second floor of the Siek Campus Center. The training runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. (A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.)<\/p>\n<p><b>The registration deadline is Monday, Feb. 21! Please contact Norina Dowd at (518) 629-7154 or at <a href=\"mailto:n.dowd@hvcc.edu\">n.dowd@hvcc.edu<\/a> if you plan to attend.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The NCBI prejudice reduction model has been widely used on college campuses across the country. Hudson Valley established its NCBI campus chapter in the fall of 2000.  In the fall of 2001, the prejudice reduction workshops were introduced as part of the College&#8217;s mission to enhance diversity awareness on campus. Offered in day-long Saturday sessions, these workshops attract an 35 to 60 participants including students, faculty, staff and members of the community.<\/p>\n<p>Other colleges have been invited to participate and several &#8212; University at Albany, Schenectady County Community College, The College of Saint Rose, Siena, RPI, Russell Sage College, Cornell University and Onondaga Community College &#8212; have indicated that they plan to send representatives.<\/p>\n<p>I think that this diversity training will enhance the overall experience for each of us. It will also create a cadre of resources in the area from which we can draw mutual support. Hopefully an army of NCBIers will be able to create kinder and gentler campuses for all of us.<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to working with you and I thank you for your commitment to this important work.
