The scholars visited the Cleanroom in the Center for Materials, Devices, and Integrated Systems (cMDIS) and took a tour of the RPI campus. Dr. Shekhar Garde, dean of Engineering at RPI, and Dr. H\u00e9ctor Rodr\u00edguez, dean of STEM at HVCC, hosted the special event to launch the program, introduce the scholars to RPI leadership, and engage with many faculty and staff at RPI working in Chips and Semiconductors research and education.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-156857\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/rpi-students-clean-tech-450x324.jpg\" alt=\"RPI scholar students in clean room\" width=\"450\" height=\"324\" \/>The RPI-HVCC Semiconductor Scholars Program, launched in Fall 2023, offers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial merit awards to qualified HVCC students in the engineering science program interested in Chips\/Semiconductors, and their applications to a wide range of interesting problems from computing, AI\/ML, health, and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>Unique opportunities to engage with RPI faculty, use RPI laboratories and facilities throughout the year.
