Health Services brings Yalisa Lorenzo from the New York State of Health\u2019s Essential Plan to campus\u00a0every other Tuesday\u00a0from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Siek Campus Center to tell students about the insurance plan. No appointment is necessary.<\/p>\n
Many New Yorkers think they can\u2019t get health insurance because it costs too much, but NY State of Health\u2019s Essential Plan\u00a0includes comprehensive benefits with no monthly premium and very low cost sharing, if you qualify.<\/p>\n
It has no deductible, so the plan starts paying for your health care right away. It covers comprehensive benefits, including dental and vision, inpatient and outpatient hospital care, prescription drugs and more. It also covers free preventive care like routine doctor exams and screenings to keep you healthy.<\/p>\n
You can enroll in the Essential Plan at any time during the year through NYS of Health. More information can be found on the NY State of Health website.<\/a><\/p>\n When Yalissa Lorenzo meets with clients, she also supports them in accessing other areas of need, including applying for food stamps, HEAP, home internet, etc. Even if clients do not qualify for the Essential Plan, they are assisted in applying for a Medicaid, Medicare, or Qualified Health plan.<\/p>\n Yalisa will be on campus again on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Drop by the Campus Center\u00a0 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m to see her.<\/p>\n
