In an effort to have a pool of peer tutors available at the beginning of the fall semester, I am beginning the hiring process this week. This will allow Peer Tutor training to take place right after the semester ends, in the early summer.<\/p>\n
I need your input. The most effective Peer Tutors are those you recommend because they have the proper insight to help others to succeed in your courses.<\/p>\n
Requirements for Peer Tutors:<\/p>\n
– On the Dean’s List or President’s List and have a faculty recommendation.<\/p>\n
or<\/p>\n
– A quality student who is doing well in your class who seems to have the ability and desire to help others and you recommend them, but they might not be on the Dean’s or President’s List.<\/p>\n
Your part:<\/p>\n
– Forward the names of students fitting the above criteria via e-mail to d.frament@hvcc.edu or by campus mail to Don Frament, LAC MRV001. Include each student’s Hudson Valley Student ID number if available.<\/p>\n
– Advise the student(s) that you are recommending them for the position and that it is a paid student worker ($8\/hr) position.<\/p>\n
– Please Act Now. Don’t wait until the fall as it takes up to four weeks for students to get interviewed, trained and hired before they can work.<\/p>\n
– I am advertising to students in the Hudsonian and on the Student Portal so you may get students asking you for recommendations. In that case a short e-mail to me saying that you recommend them would be fine.<\/p>\n
I look forward to hearing from you and I appreciate the time you take to forward student names. It is your input that helps us provide additional quality support to your students.<\/p>\n
