Jani C. Ingram: Chair, Chemistry and Biochemistry;\u00a0 Regents’ Professor, Chemistry and Biochemistry<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jani C Ingram is a member of Navajo Nation (born to the N\u00e1neesht\u2019 \u00e9zhi clan).\u00a0 She earned her A.A. general transfer degree from Yavapai College, a B.S. in Chemistry from New Mexico State University \u2013 University Park, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Arizona. She is a professor at Northern Arizona University.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ingram studies the effects on human health of uranium contamination of water, soil, plants, and livestock. She is a principal investigator of an interdisciplinary team of scientists with expertise in analytical chemistry, geoscience, cancer biology, and social sciences. Her field work is based on collaboration with the Navajo community. Almost half of the more than 100 students she has mentored are Native American.<\/p>\n

She is actively involved in outreach activities for Native American students in undergraduate and graduate research. She is the director of the Bridging Arizona Native American to Bachelor Degrees program and the Principal Investigator of the Native American Cancer Prevention Program.<\/p>\n
