The State Fire Marshal will be starting the college’s annual inspection on Monday, Nov. 18.\u00a0 Please be aware of the following items that are cited every year:<\/p>\n
Power Strips and Extension Cords<\/strong> Extension cords are for temporary use only and MUST be unplugged when not in use.<\/p>\n Extension cords cannot have a multi tap on the end (single plug only).<\/p>\n Household extension cords and other multi-taps are NOT allowed on campus.<\/p>\n Microwaves, Toaster Ovens, Heaters<\/strong> When using a heater, it must not be under the desk and must be clear of all combustible materials<\/p>\n All heater purchases must be approved by Environmental Health and Safety and Facilities Management.<\/p>\n Wax warmers are NOT allowed on campus.<\/p>\n Storage In areas without sprinklers, items must be 24 inches below the ceiling.<\/p>\n Excessive storage — especially of combustible materials — should be kept to a minimum.<\/p>\n Fire-rated doors<\/strong> should NOT be propped open, especially hallway and stairwell doors.<\/p>\n
\nPower strips MUST be plugged into the wall outlet, you cannot plug power strips and extension cords into each other.<\/p>\n
\nThe three listed above and other household applicances MUST be plugged directly into wall outlets.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>In areas with sprinklers, items must be at least 18 inches below sprinkler head.<\/p>\n
