The Center for Effective Teaching awarded three certificates of appreciation for participation in the “Teach It Forward” program this year. All three recipients volunteered their time to offer workshops in response to a call for participation in the program.<\/p>\n
Tony Podlaski<\/b>, a faculty mentor and a member of the English department, provided several sessions for colleagues on the Wired system and on Web resources available to faculty here.<\/p>\n
Kevin McNeelege<\/b>, Retention Specialist for the Learning Assistance Center and Testing Office, presented a workshop on student retention in addition to a Twenty-Minute Mentor session on the same topic.<\/p>\n
Michelle Bannoura<\/b>, from History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences, led a workshop on Safe Zones on campus.<\/p>\n
“Tony, Kevin and Michelle were the pioneers this year of the ‘Teach It Forward’ program,” said Dr. Carolyn Curtis, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Their generous commitment of expertise and time in preparing and presenting these workshops exemplifies the sense of community and sharing so evident in our faculty development program.”<\/p>\n
To be eligible for a certificate, a workshop must be offered under the auspices of the “Teach It Forward” program and must consist of information that is helpful to faculty and staff in conducting their workdays. Please contact the CET for further information on the program.<\/p>\n
