{"id":2340,"date":"2011-05-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-05-18T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/2010-2011-departmental-food-pantry-competition\/"},"modified":"2011-05-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-05-18T04:00:00","slug":"2010-2011-departmental-food-pantry-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/2010-2011-departmental-food-pantry-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"2010-2011 Departmental Food Pantry Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Departmental Food Pantry Competition, sponsored by the Student Life Committee, is designed to encourage contributions to the campus Food Pantry and cooperation and community-building within departments.<\/p>\n<p>Participating departments are recognized with certificates and mini-trophies. The department that collects the most food items is awarded possession of the large Giving Cup trophy for one year.<\/p>\n<p>This program year, at a ceremony organized by the Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement, the Giving Cup was awarded to the Individual Studies &#038; Liberal Arts Department. The department had collected 1,224 food items.<\/p>\n<p>Running a close second- and third-place were the Mortuary Science Department (1,175 food items) and the History, Philosophy and Social Sciences Department (1,143 food items).
