In June of 2023, Hudson Valley Community College became a member of the UNESCO-UNEVOC Network<\/a>, which is UNESCO\u2019s designated centre for technical and vocational education and training (TVET), UNESCO-UNEVOC supports Member States in their efforts to strengthen and upgrade their TVET systems. Our inauguration event was\u00a0 held in April of 2024. Below please find information from the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Events Calendar about an upcoming event that may be of interest to members of the campus community.<\/p>\n

Webinar Series: OER in Vocational Education and Training – Making education more accessible and affordable<\/em><\/p>\n

18 March 2025, 15:00-16:30 (CET) \/ 10:00 \u2013 11:30 (EST)<\/em><\/p>\n

In this edition of the webinar series, we will focus on the role of Open Educational Resources (OER) in improving access by reducing costs for students. After an introduction to OER, the session will particularly highlight an impressive initiative by the Milwaukee Area Technical College in the USA. During COVID, the college formed an Open Access Team that has been very successful in expanding low-cost and no-cost textbook options across the college. Furthermore, Susanne Grimm of OERinfo Germany will present the relaunched OER World Map. This interactive map can be used to expand knowledge, share information and experiences and it can help collect data on OER initiatives. Finally, ICDE\u2019s Secretary General Torunn Gjelsvik will provide an update on the organization\u2019s new OER strategy and its Open Education Network.<\/em><\/p>\n
