The College’s Workforce Development Institute (WDI) is offering a Welding Basics<\/b> course, designed to teach new skills to the novice welder and to expand the skills of workers in the construction, auto repair, electrical, plumbing, heating\/ventilation and air conditioning industries.<\/p>\n
This 15-hour course provides students with an overview of the theory and practice for welding. Students will learn to use various welding techniques, with an emphasis on quality and safety.<\/p>\n
This course trains students in the following four basic welding processes:<\/p>\n
– Shielded Metal Arc (stick welding)<\/p>\n
– Fluxcore and Mig wire feed welding<\/p>\n
– TIG welding<\/p>\n
– Oxy Fuel Cutting<\/p>\n
The following supplies are included in the $500 tuition and will be provided to the students for in-class use and to own upon completion of the course:<\/p>\n
– Welding Jacket<\/p>\n
– Welding Gloves<\/p>\n
– Welding Helmet<\/p>\n
– Safety Glasses<\/p>\n
– Industrial Earplugs<\/p>\n
Schedule: The course is scheduled to run for five straight evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the week of August 15 – August 19, 2011.<\/p>\n

Requirements: Students are required to be able to lift 35 pounds and are responsible for bringing the following items to class:<\/p>\n
– Work Gloves<\/p>\n
– Steel Toe Work Books<\/p>\n
– Long Sleeve T-Shirt or Sweat Shirt<\/p>\n
