Thank you to all members of the campus community who helped to make New Student Orientation a rousing success!<\/p>\n

J.\u00a0Popovics<\/em><\/p>\n On Saturday,\u00a01,379 students attended New Student Orientation.\u00a0 Along with them came\u00a01,216 family members and guests.\u00a0 A review of their evaluations revealed that they were overwhelmingly satisfied with the day\u2019s events.\u00a0 Exactly 98.6 percent of the students who completed a Student Orientation Questionnaire responded favorably to the question, \u201cOverall, how would you rate your Orientation experience?\u201d\u00a0 Over 98 percent of the parents and guests also responded favorably to the question on the Orientation Questionnaire for Parents and Guests.<\/p>\n When asked about what was most helpful about Orientation, responses from new students included:\u00a0 \u201cFinding out about time management.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe Student Life session.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe helpful people.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe information on student support.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cTalking about how important attendance is.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cLearning about Money Matters.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe happy moods all the people had and the good vibes they gave off.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe great listing of activities.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe welcome!\u00a0 It made me feel better about starting and I\u2019m not as nervous.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWhat is expected of me as a HVCC student.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThat there were people everywhere to help.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cAcademic support services.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cBeing able to have actual students to ask questions to.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cTransfer info.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cLunch.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cI felt welcome at Hudson Valley.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cCampus tour.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cGetting Ready for Your Future information session.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cSupport.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cSeeing my classrooms.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cOrganization of events.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cAll the people to help guide us\u2014students with the shirts.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cEveryone asking if I needed help.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cClub booths.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cBeing in the college environment and feeling good about the change.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cDisability Resource.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cPeople in yellow shirts.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cPlaying the Frisbee game and winning.\u00a0 That\u2019s what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n Parent and guest comments included:\u00a0 \u201cLearning what\u2019s available for my student.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThat there is a lot of support.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe students who guided everyone.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe number of people helping out.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cTour.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cI think it put into perspective what my son needs to do and he liked hearing about the clubs and the new building going up.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cAcademic support services and customer service at the bookstore.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWell organized.\u00a0 Everyone was friendly, excited, great energy.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cEverything.\u00a0 I teach at U Albany and they could learn a lesson from you all!\u201d\u00a0 \u201cRegistrar and Director presentation.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWelcoming atmosphere just as important as info presented.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cHelpful people.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThe tour, General Session was helpful.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cMoney Matters, the bookstore and the meal plan.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cStudent Life presentation.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cTalking informally to students.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cFeeling welcome.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThe enthusiasm of the staff\u2014contagious.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cTransfer service presentation.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThat everyone is focused on the student succeeding.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cFinancial aid.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cEverything!\u00a0 I want to come here.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cOrganization of events.\u201d\u00a0 \u201c\u2019Ask Me\u2019 people.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cCareers and Transfer session.\u201d\u00a0 The level of available service is both helpful and impressive.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cHearing that every 18-year-old knows everything.\u201d<\/p>\n The Orientation was the result of the planning and hard work of many, many individuals throughout our campus community.\u00a0 Thank you for putting our \u201cbest foot forward\u201d \u2014 as always!
