Fine Arts faculty members Thomas Lail and Tara Fracalossi exhibited over the summer at the Galleria Cypriana Majernika in Bratislava, Slovakia in an exhibition entitled \u201cTransport: Tara Fracalossi, Thomas Lail, Leah Singer, Lee Ranaldo\u201d \u00a0(Singer and Ranaldo were subject of an exhibition at the college\u2019s Teaching Gallery in 2009).<\/p>\n
The four exhibitors \u00a0additionally invited some 27 artists to lend one work each for an exhibition within the exhibition. Fine Arts faculty members Gail Roberts, Ryan Parr, Kyra Garrigue, Justin Baker and Rich Garrison were all included in this portion of the show. The exhibition was funded in part by the US State Department.<\/p>\n
Also during the summer, Fracalossi had a new large-scale photographic installation included in the exhibition \u201cA Field Guide to Getting Lost\u201d at Masters&Pelavin Gallery in New York City.<\/p>\n
Both Fracalossi and Lail recently performed at \u201cCage 99\u201d — a festival of music and works by American composer John Cage held at the Arts Center, Troy.\u00a0 As members of Location Ensemble, Fracalossi and Lail performed Cage\u2019s \u201cImaginary Landscapes IV.\u201d\u00a0 Lail also read from Cage\u2019s \u00a0long-form poem, \u201cArt is Either a Complaint or Do Something Else.\u201d Location Ensemble will perform \u201cImaginary Landscapes IV\u201d again as part of the Arts Center\u2019s\u00a0 \u201cWired Kingdom\u201d exhibition on Friday, Oct. 30.<\/p>\n
Location Ensemble also will perform works by its members (including a new composition by Lail) at The Arts Center in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, Nov. 12.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the summer, Lail\u2019s experimental music duo \u201csoundBarn\u201d was featured as Airtime Visiting Artist on radio station WGXC. The interview and performance can be found at wgxc.org<\/p>\n
soundBarn next will perform a live, improvised accompaniment to Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s 1929 film \u201cBlackMail\u201d on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Sage Auditorium at RPI in Troy.<\/p>\n
