{"id":2779,"date":"2011-12-19T12:35:18","date_gmt":"2011-12-19T17:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/save-the-date-faculty-workshop-day-is-feb-8-2012\/"},"modified":"2011-12-19T12:35:18","modified_gmt":"2011-12-19T17:35:18","slug":"save-the-date-faculty-workshop-day-is-feb-8-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/save-the-date-faculty-workshop-day-is-feb-8-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Save the Date: Faculty Workshop Day is Feb. 8, 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Faculty Workshop Day 2012 \u2014 <strong><em>Teaching in Challenging Times<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 8.<\/p>\n<p>We are happy to announce that our keynote presenter for the event is Dr. Tina Good (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.suny.edu\/system_administration\/fccc\/index.cfm\">http:\/\/www.suny.edu\/system_administration\/fccc\/index.cfm<\/a>).\u00a0 Dr. Good is well versed on the mission and challenges of community colleges and her current obligations include serving as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>President of the Faculty Council of Community Colleges<\/li>\n<li>Professor of English and the Faculty Coordinator for Assessment at Suffolk County  Community College<\/li>\n<li>And as a result of legislation signed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in August, Dr. Good has recently been appointed to a seat on the SUNY Board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The event planning committee meets regularly to solicit faculty input for workshop ideas and training needs and currently is putting together a meaningful slate of opportunities for participants.\u00a0 As per the President\u2019s comments at the Fall All-College Meeting, budgetary impacts this year will result in the elimination of the end-of-event luncheon, allowing this years\u2019 event to conclude early in the afternoon. In recognition of the needs created by the current economic strife, participants will be encouraged to bring donations for the college&#8217;s food pantry.<\/p>\n<p>Please mark your calendars and plan to join us!<\/p>\n<p>Detailed program information, workshop descriptions and registration options will be distributed at the start of the Spring semester.
