{"id":3045,"date":"2012-03-30T11:40:04","date_gmt":"2012-03-30T15:40:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/new-pension-tier-takes-effect-april-1-2012\/"},"modified":"2012-03-30T11:40:04","modified_gmt":"2012-03-30T15:40:04","slug":"new-pension-tier-takes-effect-april-1-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/new-pension-tier-takes-effect-april-1-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"New Pension Tier Takes Effect April 1, 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The creation of a new Tier 6 for New York State Public Employee Retirement Systems was signed into law on <span style=\"color: #00008b;\">March 16<\/span>.\u00a0 This Tier has a new benefit structure.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3.5% contribution regardless of salary prior to 4\/1\/13<\/li>\n<li>After 4\/1\/13 a percent of contribution is based upon regular compensation earned in the previous 2 years.<\/li>\n<li>Increases the retirement age to 63<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are interested in joining a NYS system<strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">prior<\/span><\/strong> to the Tier 6 effective date, Human Resources will need your application for membership signed and notarized prior to <strong>this Friday, March 30, 2012.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Human Resources cannot accept a FAX &#8212; the application with your original signature  and the notary\u2019s is required.
