{"id":3120,"date":"2012-04-26T11:43:27","date_gmt":"2012-04-26T15:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/peer-tutor-recruitment-for-fall-2012\/"},"modified":"2012-04-26T11:43:27","modified_gmt":"2012-04-26T15:43:27","slug":"peer-tutor-recruitment-for-fall-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/peer-tutor-recruitment-for-fall-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Peer Tutor Recruitment for Fall 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are beginning the process of creating our pool of peer tutors for the fall semester.\u00a0 Your input is requested to help make this a successful venture.\u00a0 Please take the time now to recommend students so that when you tell students to go the Learning Centers for help we will be able to provide that assistance.\u00a0 With your input we can plan for peer tutoring more effectively.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements for Peer Tutors:<br \/>\n\u2022 On the Dean\u2019s List or President\u2019s List and have a faculty recommendation.<br \/>\n0r<br \/>\n\u2022 A quality student who is doing well in your class who seems to have the ability and desire to help others and you recommend them but they may not be on the Dean\u2019s or President\u2019s List.<\/p>\n<p>Your part:<br \/>\n\u2022 Forward the names of students fitting the above criteria via campus (MRV 001) or e-mail to <a href=\"mailto:d.frament@hvcc.edu\">Don Frament<\/a>. Please include the student&#8217;s Hudson Valley ID number if available.<br \/>\n\u2022 Advise the student that you are recommending them and that it is a paid student worker ($8\/hr) position.<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Please Act Now.<\/strong> Don\u2019t wait until the fall as it takes up to four weeks for students to get interviewed, trained and hired before they can work as a peer tutor.<br \/>\n\u2022 You may get students asking you for recommendations because I am advertising to students in the <em>Hudsonian<\/em> and on the Student Portal.\u00a0 If that happens, a short e-mail recommendation indicating that you approve them would be fine.<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to hearing from you and I appreciate the time you take to forward student names.
