The Workforce Development Institute (WDI) at Hudson Valley Community College provides the Security Guard Training necessary for individuals interested in becoming licensed in New York State. For individuals looking for a new career or to supplement their income, security guard training is affordable and requires only a few evenings or weekends to complete!<\/p>\n
The 8-hour Pre-Assignment Training Course<\/strong><\/em> provides the student with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. A one-hour exam is given at the end of the course.<\/p>\n The 16-hour On-the Job-Training Course<\/strong><\/em> provides the student with more detailed information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. This course must be completed within 90 days of employment as a security guard. A one-hour exam is given at the end of the course.<\/p>\n Students must pass the written test in order to pass the course and to earn the WDI Certificate of Successful Completion.<\/p>\n Prerequisites:<\/strong> Applicants must be 18 years of age, must be a citizen or resident alien of the United States and must not have been convicted of a serious criminal offense. A minimum of a 10th grade reading skill level in English is required.
