{"id":3835,"date":"2013-01-28T21:39:49","date_gmt":"2013-01-29T02:39:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/child-care-teacher-position-available\/"},"modified":"2013-01-28T21:39:49","modified_gmt":"2013-01-29T02:39:49","slug":"child-care-teacher-position-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/child-care-teacher-position-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Care Teacher Position Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Viking Child Care Center, a department of the Faculty Student Association of HVCC, currently has an opening for a Child Care Teacher.\u00a0 Please submit resumes to Alycia Courter, CC 240, fax 518-629-7166 or email <a href=\"mailto:a.courter@hvcc.edu\">a.courter@hvcc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">NOTICE OF VACANT POSITION<\/p>\n<p>Applications are being accepted for the following vacancy on the Non-Teaching Professional staff of The Faculty Student Association of Hudson Valley Community College,80 Vandenburgh Ave,Troy,New York.<\/p>\n<p>TITLE: Viking Child Care Teacher<\/p>\n<p>EMPLOYMENT DATE: Immediate<\/p>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate\u2019s Degree in Early Childhood and experience in a day care setting; Bachelor\u2019s strongly preferred.\u00a0 Candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>DUTIES AND\/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:\u00a0\u00a0 The Viking Child Care Teacher reports to the Daycare Assistant Director and performs the following duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment and be responsible for the care, cleanliness, and daily preparation of learning areas<\/li>\n<li>Provide a classroom environment for children that is developmentally appropriate and responsive to individual children\u2019s strengths, interests and needs<\/li>\n<li>Provide and promote positive guidance and discipline while supervising children<\/li>\n<li>Interact positively with children at meals.\u00a0 Model appropriate table manners and encourage the development of independence and self help skills.\u00a0 Encourage language development by carrying on informal conversations<\/li>\n<li>Work cooperatively with co-teacher, center staff and outside service providers<\/li>\n<li>Conduct parent teacher conferences twice a year to discuss the development and growth of the children<\/li>\n<li>Complete all required paperwork including weekly lesson plans, weekly parent newsletters, anecdotal records, workshop evaluations, student intern and work study student evaluations, etc<\/li>\n<li>Is knowledgeable of all Child Care, Head Start, Early Head Start and Universal Pre-K guidelines and implements those that relate to the teaching position<\/li>\n<li>Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with families; greet parents and children upon arrival and departure; be available to discuss with parents progress or concerns regarding their child and encourage parent involvement<\/li>\n<li>Show enthusiasm, teamwork and a positive attitude toward his\/her job<\/li>\n<li>Participates in training as assigned<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the classroom is stocked with books and materials that reflect diverse images.\u00a0 Initiate activities and discussions to build self-identity and teach the value of differences<\/li>\n<li>Participate in fundraising and public relations events sponsored by the center<\/li>\n<li>Attend and participate in center staff meetings<\/li>\n<li>Perform all reasonable related duties as assigned by the Director or designated employee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SALARY RANGE:\u00a0\u00a0 Available upon request<\/p>\n<p>Cover letter and current resume, labeled with Viking Child Care Teacher, must be sent to the address below.
