Thank you to all members of the campus community who helped to make New Student Orientation a rousing success!<\/p>\n
On Saturday, approximately 1,900 students and guests attended New Student Orientation. A review of evaluations revealed that they were overwhelmingly satisfied with the day\u2019s events. Of the students who completed a Student Orientation Questionnaire, 99.5 percent responded favorably to the question, \u201cOverall, how would you rate your Orientation experience?\u201d Over 99 percent of the parents and guests also responded favorably to the question on the Orientation Questionnaire for Parents and Guests.<\/p>\n
When asked about what was most helpful about Orientation, responses from new students included: \u00a0\u201cAccess to people with answers for your question\u201d; \u201cThe staff\u201d; \u201cInformation for Blackboard and Online learning\u201d; \u201cAll the staff and students around to guide me and answer questions\u201d; \u201cMeeting people\u201d; \u201cThe Info Session: \u2018Financial Aid: Dollars and Sense\u2019 \u201d; \u201cThe Tour\u201d; The information session of: From High School Grad to College Scholar\u201d; \u201cExperiencing it all\u201d; \u201cFeeling welcome\u201d; \u201cFree time to sign up for clubs\u201d; \u201cHelping explain the transition from High School to college\u201d; \u201cThe learning and support services\u201d;\u00a0 \u201cFinding out the Bus route\u201d; \u201cThe General Session \u2018What\u2019s Expected of Me as a HVCC College Student\u2019\u201d; \u201cLearning about sport and academic management\u201d; \u201cLearning center\u201d; \u201cFinding out where my classes are\u201d; \u201cI didn\u2019t feel awkward asking \u2018stupid\u2019 questions\u201d; \u201cLearning about time management and academic support services\u201d; \u201cThe student helpers\u201d; \u201cGetting Ready for Your Future info session\u201d; \u201cLearning about how helpful the professors will be\u201d; \u201cThat I could ask anyone with an \u2018ask me\u2019 pin\u201d; \u201cGetting to hear from experienced students\u201d; \u201cThe Student Handbook\u201d; \u201cRegistrar\u201d<\/p>\n
Parents\u2019 and guests\u2019 comments included: \u00a0\u201cIndividual sessions\u2014very helpful\u201d; \u201cWell organized, on time, MANY students to ask questions\u201d; \u201cPlenty of helpful \u2018Ask Me\u2019 people\u201d; \u201cInformation about how I can help my student\u201d; \u201cEveryone was there to help you get where you needed to be\u201d; \u201cCareers and Transfer\u201d; \u201cTour\u201d; \u201cStaff\u201d; \u201cOnline learning and bus schedules\u201d; \u201cWell thought out community.\u00a0 Bus service, dental service, library has tutors (awesome!)\u201d; \u201cInformation on available student services\u201d; \u201cGeneral Session\u201d; \u201cKnowing that there is support for academics and clubs\/organizations to keep student involved\u201d;\u00a0 \u201cEverything\u201d; \u201cFinancial Aid Session\u2014She was very informative\u2014She knew her stuff\u201d; \u201cStudent Club representatives\u201d; \u201cShowing support for my child\u201d; \u201cSplit up parent and child\u2014student\u2019s role one of responsibility\u201d; \u201cOnline info\u201d; \u201cI felt very informed, included and extremely cared about\u201d; \u201cFinding out how to help my boyfriend\u201d; \u201cCDTA bus schedule\u201d; \u201cStudent support\u201d; \u201cCoffee!\u00a0 Great info for the students\u201d;\u00a0 \u201cStudent support services\u201d; \u201cGetting a feel for where my son will be spending the next 2 years\u201d; \u201cDiscussions on transfers\u201d; \u201cThe Student Life session\u201d; Very professional\u201d<\/p>\n
The Orientation was the result of the planning and hard work of many, many individuals throughout our campus community.\u00a0 Thank you for welcoming our students, parents and guests in such a fine manner.<\/p>\n
