Hudson Valley Community College\u2019s College Health Service<\/a>, which serves the outpatient health care needs of students, faculty and staff at the second largest institution of higher education in the region, has again achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care <\/a>(AAAHC).<\/p>\n The school is the only two-year college in the country to achieve the accreditation.<\/strong><\/p>\n Locally, health service offices at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University at Albany also hold accreditation by AAAHC.<\/p>\n Status as an accredited organization means Hudson Valley has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. The college first achieved this accreditation in 2004 and has twice been re-accredited by the organization.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe our patients deserve the best,\u201d said Claudine Potvin-Giordano, coordinator of college health services at Hudson Valley. \u201cWhen you see our certificate of accreditation, you know that an independent, not-for-profit organization has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we as an organization care enough about our patients to strive for the highest level of care possible.\u201d<\/p>\n Ambulatory health care organizations that seek accreditation by AAAHC undergo extensive self-assessment and an on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors \u2013 physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care.<\/p>\n The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, founded in 1979, is the leader in ambulatory health care accreditation with more than 5,000 organizations accredited nationwide.
