Petersen, an instructional designer in the college&#8217;s Distance Learning Office and an adjunct faculty member of the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Broadcast Communications Department, recently signed a contract with Cognella Academic Publishing to write a textbook.\u00a0 The textbook is tentatively titled <em>Ancient and Medieval Art:\u00a0 A Thematic Survey<\/em>, and will be piloted at Hudson Valley Community College as the textbook for Art History Survey I (ARTS 100).\u00a0 It will also be available for adoption by any college or university that offers this course, and it has a projected publication date of Fall 2015.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In conjunction with the textbook, Dr. Petersen will also create a complete companion course cartridge that will be compatible with <em>Blackboard <\/em>and other learning management systems. This course cartridge will be designed to be used in tandem with the textbook by instructors who teach Art History Survey I in any modality, whether online, hybrid, or face-to-face.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the contract that Dr. Petersen and Cognella agreed upon, all royalties from the copies of the textbook\/course-cartridge bundle that are sold at Hudson Valley Community College will be presented as a gift to the Hudson Valley Community\u00a0College Foundation, and earmarked for the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Broadcast Communications Department, where the funds will be used to help underwrite student-related departmental costs, such as student awards and student activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Published:<\/strong>\u00a0Wed, 11 Sep 2013 11:47:49 +0000 by\u00a0e.bryant<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Dr. Mark R.
