{"id":4516,"date":"2013-09-11T20:20:19","date_gmt":"2013-09-12T00:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/library-adds-westlaw-to-its-vast-array-of-research-databases\/"},"modified":"2013-09-11T20:20:19","modified_gmt":"2013-09-12T00:20:19","slug":"library-adds-westlaw-to-its-vast-array-of-research-databases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/library-adds-westlaw-to-its-vast-array-of-research-databases\/","title":{"rendered":"Library adds Westlaw to its vast array of research databases!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Marvin Library recently added &#8220;<strong>WestlawNext<\/strong>&#8221; to its repertoire of scholarly databases, and we invite you to try it out.\u00a0 While primarily a <strong>legal<\/strong> research database, truly a law library unto itself, Westlaw also partners with <strong>Reuters<\/strong> to bring extensive U.S. and international news coverage.<\/p>\n<p>See <a title=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/lrc\/databases\/subject.html#law\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/lrc\/databases\/subject.html#law\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/lrc\/databases\/subject.html#law<\/a>\u00a0for a link to Westlaw, which also is available from <strong>off campus<\/strong> with your HVCC\u00a0user name and password.<\/p>\n<p>We are busy creating criminal justice and legal tutorials, and encourage employees to attend a Westlaw general legal workshop in the CET on Sept. 17. (Please click <a title=\"here\" href=\"https:\/\/zmail.hvcc.edu\/home\/c.prylo@hvcc.edu\/CET%20Professional%20Development.html?view=month\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> for the CET workshop schedule for the month of September.) In addition to a general legal research session to be conducted Sept. 17, a Westlaw for News session will be provided on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Both session are at 2 PM in the CET lab.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Westlaw<\/strong> replaced<strong> Lexis<\/strong> as our primary legal database.
