{"id":4631,"date":"2013-10-08T16:08:38","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T20:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-62\/"},"modified":"2013-10-08T16:08:38","modified_gmt":"2013-10-08T20:08:38","slug":"blackboard-tip-of-the-week-62","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-62\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard Tip of the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that in the new version of\u00a0<em>Blackboard<\/em>, your students must follow different steps for viewing feedback and comments that you provide them with when you grade their tests, Discussion Board work, assignment submissions, etc.?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For Assignments<\/strong>, when they go into their\u00a0<strong>My Grades\u00a0<\/strong>view, students must select the\u00a0<strong>underlined title<\/strong>\u00a0of the assignment in order to view the submission history and your feedback\u00a0on a returned assignment (for example a document).<\/li>\n<li>To view your general comments for tests, assignments, Discussion Board work, etc., students select the\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Comments<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0link that appears under the name of the assessment.\u00a0 This\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Comments<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0link reflects your general comments for the grade column.<\/li>\n<li>If you grade any assessment using the\u00a0<em>Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>rubric tool, your students will see a\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">View Rubric<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0link under the name of that assessment, which they can select to view the rubric for the assessment and the criteria-specific feedback that you have provided them with.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For Tests<\/strong>, students select the\u00a0<strong>underlined title<\/strong>\u00a0of the test to access the\u00a0<em>View Attempts\u00a0<\/em>page, and then view their results and your feedback for a test attempt by selecting the grade for that attempt, which functions as a link and is listed under the heading\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Calculated Grade<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>For assessments such as\u00a0<strong>Discussion Boards, Blogs, Wikis and Journals,<\/strong>\u00a0students can view the details of their submissions, contributions, etc., by selecting the\u00a0<strong>underlined title<\/strong>\u00a0of the assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, the\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Description<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0link under each grade is visually very prominent and it is advisable to provide brief descriptions of your Grade Center columns.
