As our students often learn the hard way, there are numerous reasons why they can encounter problems when taking online tests. With Finals week approaching, you may wish to share with your students the Blackboard <\/em>test-taking tips below. These tips have proven effective in helping students to avoid issues when taking online tests in Blackboard<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Top Ten Online Test Taking Tips for Students<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Wireless Internet Connections are\u00a0NOT\u00a0<\/strong>recommended.<\/li>\n
  2. Only have one Blackboard Session open at a time<\/strong>. Whenever you log in, Blackboard starts a session for you and tracks your time. After three hours, your Blackboard session may close. But if you have logged in several times within three hours, you may have multiple sessions open. When preparing to start a test, make sure you haven\u2019t recently logged into Blackboard so you will start a new session. To prevent this, make sure you always\u00a0logout<\/strong>\u00a0of Blackboard when finished so you always start a new Blackboard session.<\/li>\n
  3. Only one (1) Internet browser window or tab should be open<\/strong>\u00a0and you should\u00a0Maximize<\/strong>\u00a0your Internet browser screen before starting and during the test.<\/li>\n
  4. Minimize<\/strong>\u00a0the number of applications running; use only what you need to complete your test.<\/li>\n
  5. Do not<\/strong>\u00a0double click on the Begin button, or click the Begin button more than once when starting the test.<\/li>\n
  6. Wait<\/strong>\u00a0for the test to completely load on the page before selecting\/entering answers<\/li>\n
  7. Save Often<\/strong>\u00a0by selecting the\u00a0Save All Answers<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Save Answer\u00a0<\/strong>buttons, but do not double click on these buttons an error could occur.<\/li>\n
  8. Be cautious<\/strong>\u00a0using the backspace or delete keys. The test page could be refreshed and prevent you from re-accessing the test.<\/li>\n
  9. Do Not Use<\/strong>\u00a0the Internet Browser \u201cBack,\u201d \u201cForward,\u201d or \u201cRefresh\u201d buttons, using these buttons could cause you to lose connection to the test.<\/li>\n
  10. Make sure<\/strong>\u00a0you review the test results page that appears after submitting your test in order to confirm that the test submission was successful and to review any feedback your instructor may have provided.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
