Did you know that, in our current version of Blackboard<\/em>, your students can receive notifications about any changes — a new announcement, a new content item, a new discussion board post, etc. — that you make to your course(s), as well as notifications about work (tests, assignments, discussion boards, etc.) that is due for your course(s)?<\/p>\n

Here are the most common ways in which students can receive these notifications:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. If you have a Module Page <\/strong>in your course that includes a notifications module<\/li>\n
  2. If any of your students\u2019 other instructors have a Module Page <\/strong>in their course that includes a notifications module<\/li>\n
  3. If students look at Updates <\/strong>when they select the Notifications drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of your course window<\/li>\n
  4. If students elect to include a notifications module on their My Page <\/strong>in Blackboard<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Consequently, if you set due-dates in your Blackboard <\/em>course(s) for tests, assignments, discussion boards and other assessments, your students will receive a notification whenever an item for which a due-date has been set becomes due. This is a robust feature, which can help your students to stay on track with work that is due for their courses. However, when you import a course from a previous semester, you will need to update all of your due-dates for the current semester<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t, your students will receive notifications about work that was actually due the previous semester, which can cause them unwarranted confusion and\/or concern.<\/p>\n

    Therefore, as part of your preparation for the spring semester, you will want to make sure that the due dates<\/em> have been updated in the courses in which you have set them.<\/p>\n
