Cuomo appointed Catherine I. Conroy of Troy and Dr. William C. Jennings of Stephentown to the Hudson Valley Community College Board of Trustees. The new members succeed Dr. Robert H. Hill II and Kenneth B. Colloton whose terms of service to the college were fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCathy Conroy and Bill Jennings bring decades of experience in education and civic leadership to the college\u2019s board, and I look forward to working closely with them to advance our myriad goals. As we welcome new members, I extend my deepest gratitude to Ken Colloton and Bob Hill for their many years of friendship, support and dedication to our mission. They will be missed greatly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colloton, a senior vice president of Albany Medical Center, is a 1974 graduate of the college and 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. He completed a seven-year term (from 2007-2014) on the college\u2019s board.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hill, a dentist based in Averill Park, has served the college\u2019s Board of Trustees for a total of 24 years beginning with his first appointment in 1982. He served as chairman of the board from 2003-2011 and also has been a member of the advisory board for the college\u2019s Dental Hygiene department since 1982.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Catherine I. Conroy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/bot\/images\/conroy-catherine.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"138\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/>Newly-appointed board member Catherine Conroy holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in special education from Boston College, a master\u2019s degree in educational psychology from The College of St. Rose and a master\u2019s degree in public service from Russell Sage College. A teacher of children with special needs, she retired in 2002 from BOCES\/Questar III after a career of more than 30 years. Conroy is a former member of the Troy City Council and currently works as a full-time volunteer for the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club. She is active in a number of civic and community organizations, including the Rensselaer County and Troy Democratic Committees, St. Augustine\u2019s Parish and School, and the Troy Zoning Board.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\" William C. Jennings\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/bot\/images\/jennings-william.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"138\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/>Dr. William Jennings earned his bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and then joined the faculty of the college. During his 35-year career at RPI, he served in a variety of academic and administrative positions, including as chair of the Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering Department, associate dean of the Graduate School, dean of Continuing Education, vice provost for Computing and Information Technology and vice provost for Professional and Distance Education. Following retirement, he has become active in several community organizations in Stephentown, including the Volunteer Fire Department, Fire District #1, Memorial Library, Historical Society and the Town Council.<\/p>\n<p>The college\u2019s 10-member Board of Trustees is appointed by the Governor, who names four members, and the Rensselaer County Legislature, which names five members to serve seven-year terms.
