President Drew Matonak is one of eight new members named to the Capital Region Economic Development Council that is charged with reviewing projects for possible state funding.<\/p>\n
The new members will fill vacant seats on the council and work together, under the leadership of co-chairs Jim Barba of Albany Medical Center and Dr. Robert Jones of the University at Albany.<\/p>\n
In 2011, Governor Andrew Cuomo established 10 Regional Councils to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth for their regions. The Councils are public-private partnerships made up of local experts and stakeholders from business, academia, local government, and non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n
