Thank you to all members of the campus community who helped to make On Saturday, just over 1,800 students and guests attended New Student Orientation. A review of evaluations revealed that they were overwhelmingly satisfied with the day\u2019s events. Of the students who completed a Student Orientation Questionnaire, 99.1 percent responded favorably to the question, \u201cOverall, how would you rate your Orientation experience?\u201d Additionally, 98.6 percent of the parents and guests responded favorably to the question on the Orientation Questionnaire for Parents and Guests.<\/p>\n When asked, \u201cWhat was the most helpful thing about Orientation?\u201d responses from new students included: \u201cGet to know what is expected of me and the resources available to help students succeed\u201d; \u201cSeeing where my classes will be\u201d; \u201cThe food\u201d; \u201cTour\u201d; \u201cThe presentations\u201d; \u201cOpening general session\u201d; \u201cStudents speaking about experiences\u201d; \u201cAll the help from people in yellow shirts\u201d; \u201cThe friendly people helping out\u201d; \u201cInfo on online classes\u201d; \u201cStudent life\u201d; \u201cHaving a pre-paid line for the books\u201d; \u201cJust giving me an overall awareness of everything available on campus\u201d; \u201cInfo about student support services\u201d; \u201cLearning my ID doubles as a bus passv \u201cHelpful and friendly staff and faculty\u201d; What\u2019s expected of me session\u201d; \u201cFinancial Aid\u201d; \u201cThe speaker telling me how to use my time wisely\u201d; \u201cThe speakers\u201d; \u201cThe tour guides were very helpful\u201d; \u201cEverything was very helpful, from the general session to the tours, to the info. sessions\u201d; \u201cI am now confident in attending this fall\u201d; \u201cBeing able to explore the campus in a fun atmosphere\u201d; \u201cStudent panel\u201d; \u201cMeeting new people\u201d; \u201cInfo about where to get help\u201d; \u201cHelpful people and they\u2019re very friendly\u201d; \u201cNice people and good food\u201d; \u201cThe whole experience made me feel more comfortable about college in general\u201d; \u201cCareer and transfer opportunities\u201d; \u201cBeing able to choose what info I wanted to get\u201d; \u201cBeing able to get my student ID\u201d; \u201cGetting tips for college life\u201d; \u201cVeteran service was eye opening!\u201d; \u201cThe public safety\u201d; \u201cPersonal tour and tons of staff\u201d; \u201cThe panel was pretty helpful\u201d; \u201cThat everything was organized\u201d; \u201cThe library tour\u201d; \u201cThe planner book with the club listing\u201d; \u201cEverything.\u201d<\/p>\n Parents\u2019 and guests\u2019 comments included: \u201cHearing students speak of experience\u201d; \u201cHaving so many volunteers on hand was helpful\u201d; \u201cHelp in the bookstore\u201d; \u201cStudent opinions\u201d; \u201cStudent support services\u201d; \u201cOpen offices\u201d; \u201cRetention services, available support\u201d; \u201cI wouldn\u2019t change a thing\u201d; \u201cAll info great, but more impressed by tone and helpfulness of all\u2014feel good about my daughter attending a caring, safe community. Thanks!\u201d; \u201cI feel supported\u201d; \u201cLearning about the school\u2019s webpage and the importance of learning to navigate it\u201d; \u201cWe received personal help with finding the baseball coach and met personally with him\u201d; \u201cTour\/map\/general session\u201d; \u201cStudent support presentation\u201d; \u201cCDTA person and transfer session\u201d; \u201cOverview on helping freshmen\u201d; \u201cTouring campus\u201d; \u201cFinancial Aid\u201d; \u201cIt helped me feel positive about my daughter\u2019s future here at HVCC\u201d; \u201cGreat welcome to families and helpful staff\u201d; \u201cGeneral session, ladies were excellent with their presentation and information\u201d; \u201cSpeakers\u201d; \u201cTips on how to help my son succeed\u201d; \u201cSession for transfer\u201d; \u201cThe down to earth atmosphere around the campus\u201d; \u201cStudent panel giving suggestions\u201d; \u201cStudent life\u201d; Everything\u201d; \u201cSo glad you are doing this.
