Unused prescription and over-the-counter medications that remain in the home can cause serious harm to people if they are taken accidently, intentionally misused or inappropriately given to someone else. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet. Also, unused medications that are flushed down the toilet or poured down the sink can enter the water supply, harming fish and other wildlife and posing a potential risk to people.

Collection sites in Rensselaer County:

City of Troy Police Department
55 State Street, Troy

East Greenbush Police Department
225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer

Schodack Police Department
1797 Columbia Turnpike, Castleton-on-Hudson

New York State Police
1485 State Route 9, Castleton-on-Hudson

Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Dept. at West Sand Lake Fire Dept.
3697 Rte 43, West Sand Lake

Hoosick Falls Village Police Department
29 Main Street, Hoosick Falls

For more information, or additional collections sites go to: http://www.justice.gov/dea

Published: Wed, 24 Sep 2014 19:01:27 +0000 by c.potvingiordano

National Prescription Drug “Take-back Day” Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Turn in your unused or…

[8

post-5774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-classifieds
["GET
