{"id":5871,"date":"2014-10-15T13:47:54","date_gmt":"2014-10-15T17:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-90\/"},"modified":"2014-10-15T13:47:54","modified_gmt":"2014-10-15T17:47:54","slug":"blackboard-tip-of-the-week-90","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-90\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard Tip of the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"first-para\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Bb 9.1 April 2014<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"first-para\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Here is a short,<\/strong><\/span> but tried and trusted,\u00a0<em>Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>tip for faculty who are preparing to teach one of the Late Sprint courses that start on Monday (October 20):\u00a0 after doing an export\/import from an older course into your Late Sprint course, be sure to save to your local computer or network drive a copy of the export file that you imported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">This is particularly important if the export file came from a Late Sprint course that you taught in Fall\u00a02013, since that course will only remain available to you for 30 days after your 2014 Late Sprint course starts; if you neglect to save a copy of the export file, you will not be able to save a copy once that 30-day period has ended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>In any case,<\/strong><\/span> you should always save export files from your courses that have just ended, as you will need the content from those export files for the subsequent sections of those courses that you teach. For a refresher, use the following link:\u00a0<a style=\"color: #528f6c;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/deptweb-dlweb\/faculty.php?id=1206&amp;cat=28\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Export Your Course<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>In a related vein,<\/strong><\/span> you also should always create archive files of courses that have just ended, and save copies of them to your local computer or network drive (<a style=\"color: #528f6c;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/deptweb-dlweb\/faculty.php?id=1348&amp;cat=29\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>How do I do that?<\/em><\/strong><\/a>). Why? The archive file represents a complete historical record of your course, one which contains all of the work that your students did in that course, and preserves all of your students\u2019 grades and grading feedback.
