{"id":6193,"date":"2015-01-06T13:05:08","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T18:05:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-99\/"},"modified":"2015-01-06T13:05:08","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T18:05:08","slug":"blackboard-tip-of-the-week-99","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-99\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard Tip of the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Bb 9.1 April 2014<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>With the approach of the Spring 2015 Semester,<\/strong> <\/span>many faculty will be busy doing course exports and imports as they prepare their courses for the start of the Semester (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/deptweb-dlweb\/faculty.php?id=1206&amp;cat=97\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Export Course<\/strong><\/em><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\/\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/deptweb-dlweb\/faculty.php?id=1211&amp;cat=97\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Import Course<\/strong><\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>In the past,<\/strong> <\/span>there were two time-consuming tasks that faculty had to undertake as a necessary part of their course preparation: 1) Deleting old posts from imported Discussion Boards, and 2) Revising due-dates and display dates in the courses in which they&#8217;ve imported content from older courses. As a welcome change, our current version of\u00a0<em>Blackboard \u00a0<\/em>(<em>Bb 9.1 April 2014<\/em>)<em><strong style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/em>allows you to carry out these tasks in considerably less time!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>First,<\/strong><\/span> when you do a course export in\u00a0<em>Blackboard<\/em>, you can now tell\u00a0<em>Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>to <em><strong>not<\/strong> <\/em>include the old posts from your course Discussion Board (<a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/blackboard-tip-of-the-week-82\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>How Does that Work?<\/strong><\/em><\/a>). Doing this\u00a0effectively eliminates the follow-up chore of deleting old posts from the Discussion Board of the course that you are importing into.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Second,<\/strong> <\/span>using the new Date Management tool in\u00a0<em>Blackboard<\/em>, you can update all of your course due-dates and display dates in one location, rather than having to navigate through your course and manually edit your due-dates and display dates.
