Important note about<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Blackboard<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Date Management:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span>If you plan\u00a0to use\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Use Course Start Date<\/strong>\u00a0option\u00a0<\/span>in the Date Management tool in\u00a0<\/span>Blackboard\u00a0<\/i>(How do I do that?<\/strong><\/em><\/a>),\u00a0be sure to do so\u00a0<\/span>before<\/i><\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>you export your course. If you try to use\u00a0it after exporting, there will be no way to put the old start date in the dialog box, which will have been auto-filled through system programming and can’t be changed. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

In addition,<\/strong><\/span> you should only run the Date Management tool after<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>archiving your course (How to archive your course<\/strong><\/em><\/a>). \u00a0Why? \u00a0Running the tool will change your course due-dates, display dates, etc., which would cause issues, for example, were a student subsequently to dispute a grade in your\u00a0course that s(he) received based on having missed due-dates for assigned work. \u00a0In a case like this, you would want to have the original due-dates, display dates, etc., preserved for purposes of documentation, and the only<\/strong> <\/em>way that you could do that would be by archiving your course before running the Date Management tool.<\/span><\/div>\n
