Bb Version 9.1 October\u00a02014<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Newly redesigned by Elissa Baker,<\/strong><\/span> the How to Use the Blackboard Learning Management System\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>course is\u00a0targeted toward Hudson Valley Community College students, who can complete it in approximately one hour and receive a basic introduction to both the\u00a0Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>learning management system and online learning. By completing the course, students who use\u00a0Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>in their Hudson Valley coursework can thus significantly improve their chances for success in that coursework!<\/p>\n In addition,<\/strong><\/span> students who successfully complete the\u00a0How to Use the Blackboard Learning Management System\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>course will now be awarded with a printable certificate of completion. They earn this certificate by completing a quiz for each of the 8 Modules in the course. They earn a badge for each quiz that they complete; and once they\u2019ve earned a badge for each of the 8 quizzes, they receive the certificate of completion.<\/p>\n The latter is a new feature,<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>which you\u00a0can use as a means\u00a0of ensuring that your\u00a0students are well prepared to use\u00a0Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>in your upcoming Fall classes. One way in which to do so would be to require your students to complete\u00a0the How to Use the Blackboard Learning Management System\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>course, and to demonstrate that they’ve done so by producing a certificate of completion. Alternatively, completion of the course could be presented to students as an extra-credit opportunity.<\/p>\n In any such scenario,<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>you can make it easy for your students to prove that they’ve completed the course. That is, simply create a\u00a0Blackboard\u00a0<\/em>assignment (How do I do that?<\/a><\/strong><\/em>), which your students can then use to upload electronic copies of their certificates of completion.
