{"id":7286,"date":"2015-11-17T13:11:48","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T18:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/gift-for-college-at-new-stewarts-shop-opening-on-nov-20\/"},"modified":"2015-11-17T13:11:48","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T18:11:48","slug":"gift-for-college-at-new-stewarts-shop-opening-on-nov-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/gift-for-college-at-new-stewarts-shop-opening-on-nov-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Gift for college at new Stewart&#8217;s Shop opening on Nov. 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stewartsshops.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stewart&#8217;s Shops<\/a> will present a $1,000 check to the college&#8217;s Foundation following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon on Friday, Nov. 20 as the local corporation opens its newest store at 50 North Greenbush Road.<\/p>\n<p>President Drew Matonak and Mark Mitchell, treasurer of the Foundation&#8217;s Board of Directors, will be on hand for the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The $1,000 is earmarked by Stewart&#8217;s for the Student Emergency Assistance Fund, which is used to help Hudson Valley Community College students facing an emergency or crisis situation. The fund is housed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/foundation\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Foundation<\/a>, but administered by the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Development.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart&#8217;s will offer a number of <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Specials_half.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">specials<\/a> on opening day, including an <strong>ice cream eating contest<\/strong>. Those interested in participating may sign up at the shop anytime* up until the 4 p.m. contest start time when the names of 20 contestants will be drawn.
