On April 15, 2016, Information Technology Services (ITS) will be upgrading the security on all Web servers to require Transport Layer Security (TLS) v1.1 or higher. TLS is the protocol used to ensure web-based transactions are secure and v1.0 has been determined to no longer be secure. For additional details related to guidance issued to campuses on this topic, please read\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n To ensure all of its web-based access are secure, SUNY System Administration is requiring that all client applications (including browsers) which access SUNY SA applications and services, must support appropriate versions of TLS. In order to be in compliance with federal and state guidelines and maintain our access to SUNY applications and services, Hudson Valley Community College will remove TLS v1.0 on all secure Web servers as of April 15, 2016.<\/strong>\u00a0Users accessing secure Web pages\/applications on a device that does not support TLS v1.1 or higher will be\u00a0blocked\u00a0from continuing to the requested Web page\/application, after this date.<\/p>\n To learn about the impact of this change, “What does this mean for me as a user?<\/em>” and find out how to check your browser’s compliance with TLS v1.1, “What do I need to do?<\/em>” visit the\u00a0ITS TLS Information Page<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n What does this mean for me as a user?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Read this section for specific information related to the HVCC secure Web pages\/applications impacted by this change as well as the intermediary page that will be presented to users who are accessing these areas with devices that do not support TLS v1.1 or higher.<\/p>\n What do I need to do?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Read and follow the instructions in this section to check to make sure your device\u00a0will not be blocked from receiving secure content.
