{"id":7973,"date":"2016-04-28T12:22:14","date_gmt":"2016-04-28T16:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/report-to-the-board-of-trustees-for-april\/"},"modified":"2016-04-28T12:22:14","modified_gmt":"2016-04-28T16:22:14","slug":"report-to-the-board-of-trustees-for-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/report-to-the-board-of-trustees-for-april\/","title":{"rendered":"Report to the Board of Trustees for April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m pleased to share my April <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presidents-Report-April-2016.pdf\">report to the Board of Trustees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This month, you\u2019ll see an update on the outcome of State Budget negotiations which includes an increase in base aid of $100 per FTE as well as a delay in the implementation of the new chargeback funding formula for community colleges. The formula\u2019s five-year phase-in period was to begin in fiscal year 2016-17, however it will now start in 2018-19. While this shift is not ideal for the college, we are prepared to adapt to the change.<\/p>\n<p>The Board report also covers a variety of events and activities including an audit by the state Comptroller\u2019s office; ongoing Business Process Review meetings on campus; a May 24 meeting of the Capital Region Community College Regional Council and Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul; federal fundraising and advocacy efforts to support the expansion of Advanced Manufacturing Technology; the Emergency Preparedness Committee\u2019s active shooter drill on May 6; Student Senate election results; and accolades for students, faculty and staff, including the 2016 SUNY Chancellor\u2019s and President\u2019s Award recipients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chancellor&#8217;s Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Excellence in Classified Service<\/em><br \/>\nJennifer Acker, Senior Clerk, Marvin Library<\/p>\n<p><em>Excellence in Faculty Service<\/em><br \/>\nJanice Hindes, Associate Professor, Individual Studies<br \/>\nRosemary Schultz, Associate Professor, School of Business<\/p>\n<p><em>Excellence in Professional Service<br \/>\n<\/em>Linda Ryder, Senior Instructional Designer, Center for Distance and Online Learning<\/p>\n<p><em>Excellence in Teaching<\/em><br \/>\nDr. Michelle Bannoura, Associate Professor, History, Philosophy and Social Science<\/p>\n<p><strong>President\u2019s Awards for Excellence in College Service<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Susan Agan, Technical Assistant, High School Programs and Educational Outreach<\/p>\n<p>Ann Carrozza, Executive Director, Faculty Student Association<\/p>\n<p>Selissa Dukes, Technical Assistant, Admissions<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to all of this year\u2019s award recipients! I hope to see many of our faculty and staff colleagues as we show support for the honorees at the May 5 Faculty\/Staff Honors Convocation in the Maureen Stapleton Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I am sad to report that longtime trustee, Don Fane, resigned his position on the board effective June 1 due to increasing responsibilities and travel within his role at Callanan Industries, Inc. Don joined the board in 2003. It\u2019s been a true pleasure to work with him throughout the years, and I greatly appreciate all he\u2019s done to advance the college.
