-273) and -3.8% behind last year in FTE (7420; -290).\u00a0 We will have a final fall report once registration closes for Sprint courses and College in the High School courses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TECHNOLOGY ISSUES ON CAMPUS<\/strong> \u2014 As we discussed at the last meeting, we had a number of technology issues at the start of this semester, and the ITS staff has worked diligently to stabilize the computing environment.\u00a0 In your materials is the update our CIO, Jonathan Brennan, sent to the employees and students last Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALL COLLEGE MEETING<\/strong> \u2014 On Monday, September 19, we held the Fall 2016 All College Meeting.\u00a0 If you didn\u2019t get a chance to watch it live, the video archive can be accessed at www.hvcc.edu\/secure\/staff\/allcollege\/index.html.\u00a0 The program is included in your materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATER LEAK IN FITZGIBBONS<\/strong> \u2014 We had turn off the water to Brahan and Fitzgibbons this morning due to a water leak in the basement of Fitzgibbons.\u00a0 The water was restored within an hour, and the damage is still being evaluated.\u00a0 The source of the leak is still unknown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOMECOMING<\/strong> \u2014 The Capital Region is invited to participate in our 2016 Homecoming events.\u00a0 They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Thursday, Oct. 6:<\/em> Fall Fest from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 pm, the highlight of which is the annual faculty\/staff v. students Viking Cup Challenge softball game.\u00a0 Later that day, we\u2019re hosting a media tour of the new Outdoor Athletic Complex.<\/li>\n<li><em>Friday, Oct. 7:<\/em> Outdoor Athletic Complex Alumni Sneak Peek from 4:30-6 p.m., followed by the Athletic Alumni Reunion Reception, from 6-8 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex.\u00a0 Also at this time, the Nursing Class of 1966 will be holding their 50th anniversary reunion.<\/li>\n<li><em>Saturday, Oct. 8:<\/em>\u00a0 Pre-game Tailgate Party from 11:15 a.m. \u2013 12:15 p.m., followed by the dedication of the Outdoor Athletic Complex.\u00a0 At 1 p.m., the football team plays its first home game against Valley Forge Military College.<\/li>\n<li><em>Sunday, Oct. 9:<\/em>\u00a0 The 8th Annual Race Away Stigma 5K Race and Fun Walk.\u00a0 Registration begins at the student pavilion at 8:30 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information on any of these events, please visit our Homecoming 2016 page at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/homecoming\">http:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/homecoming<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>FOUNDATION UPDATE<\/strong> \u2014 Regina LaGatta has the following information to report:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Our thanks to all of you on the Board for your generous support of the Foundation Gala on Oct. 14 to benefit the Educational Opportunity Center.\u00a0 Please let Suzanne know if you are planning to attend.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Thank you to all who were able to attend the Leadership Donors Reception on Sept. 14, where we presented the Philanthropy Award to Doug Baldrey.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 The Foundation is pleased to be the co-sponsor of the Student Empowerment Series, which is comprised of three interactive workshops focused on building leadership skills.\u00a0 For details, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/empowerment\/index.html\">www.hvcc.edu\/empowerment<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 In conjunction with the Office of Communications and Marketing, the Foundation was a sponsor of the Business Review Power Breakfast on Advanced Manufacturing, which was held last Friday.\u00a0 David Davis, president of Simmons Machine Tool and co-chair of the Gene Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing Campaign (GHCAMS), gave opening remarks, and Professor Dave Larkin was one of the panelists.\u00a0 At your place is the case for support for the CAMS project.\u00a0 On Friday, we will be at GE Power Systems to accept a $25,000 donation from GE for the naming of the GHCAMS Student Advisement Center and to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the HVCC\/GE Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ENROLLMENT\/MARKETING REPORT<\/strong> \u2014 At your place and on the portal is the quarterly Enrollment\/Marketing Report, which also included the year-end summary of 2015-16 activities.<\/p>\n<p>KEEP UP WITH CAMPUS NEWS ON THE CHRONICLE \u2014 Every day, Dennis and his Communications and Marketing staff publish The Campus Chronicle, which highlights campus news and events of interest.\u00a0 If you use your HVCC email address, you receive a daily link to it; if not, you can use your HVCC login and password to access it at <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\">http:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress<\/a>\/<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE ON PRESIDENT\u2019S ACTIVITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 On Sept. 7-8, I attended the New York Community College Association of Presidents (NYCCAP) meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 On Sept. 8-9, I attended the Chancellor\u2019s meeting with the SUNY Presidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Regina and I attended the press conference at UAlbany on Sept. 12 where they announced that their Rensselaer campus will now be known as the University at Albany Health Sciences Campus.\u00a0 It will also be the new home of the UAlbany Innovation Center, which will serve entrepreneurs and researchers on campus.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 I was able to attend the farewell to Robert Jones at UAlbany on Sept. 14, and then attend the Van Rensselaer Dinner.\u00a0 My thanks to Connie, Manik, Bill and George for attending.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 On Sept. 16, I was pleased to provide a welcome to Congressman Paul Tonko, who brought his \u201cCapitol Hill in the Capital Region\u201d symposium to HVCC.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Today, Bill Jennings, Neil and I attended a meeting with trustees and presidents of our local region\u2019s community colleges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HVCC FACULTY AND STAFF IN THE NEWS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 At yesterday\u2019s Academic Senate annual meeting, the Senate honored Dean Chris Helwig with the 2016 Marco Silvestri Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Congratulations to Michael Shea, an instructor in our Biology, Chemistry and Physics Department, who was honored as one of the \u201d20 under 40\u201d at a luncheon held in Queensbury on Sept. 21.\u00a0 I was pleased to be able to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SAVE THE DATE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, you can find a list of upcoming events on the campus on our webpage: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/news_events\/calendar.php\">www.hvcc.edu\/news_events\/calendar.php<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPCOMING EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Friday, Oct. 7\u00a0 \u2014 As part of Homecoming weekend, the Athletics Department and the Foundation are hosting a reception for alumni from our athletic teams.\u00a0 The reception will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm in the McDonough Sports Complex and you are all invited to attend.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Saturday, Oct. 8 \u2014 Homecoming and the ribbon cutting for the Outdoor Athletic Complex will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8.\u00a0 Festivities start with a BBQ \u201ctailgate\u201d at 11:15 a.m.; the dedication ceremony starts at 12:20 p.m., and the game kicks off at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Sunday, Oct. 9 \u2014 The 8th Annual Race Away Stigma 5k Race and Fun Walk will begin with registration at 8:30 am. at the student pavilion in front of Hudson Hall.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 The 2016-2017 New York Community College Trustees (NYCCT) Calendar includes the following events being held at the Otesaga Resort Hotel on Cooperstown.\u00a0 We have not seen the agenda yet, but if you would like to attend, please let Suzanne know by Sept. 30.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Trustee Institute \u2014 Orientation and Education for New and Experienced Trustees, Thursday, Oct. 20 &amp; Friday, Oct. 21.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 NYCCT 62nd Annual Conference \u2014 Friday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 23.\u00a0 The NYCCT Trustee Awards Reception and Banquet is Friday, Oct. 21.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HVCC FOUNDATION EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Friday, Oct. 14 \u2014 The Foundation Gala to Benefit the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) will be held from 6 -11 p.m. at the Franklin Plaza.\u00a0 The EOC is honoring the Hon. H.
