The college is preparing to go through the Open SUNY Institutional Readiness Process for our distance learning programs and our kick-off meeting with SUNY representatives and college stakeholders is Wednesday, Oct 12.<\/p>\n
There are several perspectives from which the Open SUNY Institutional Readiness Process is beneficial to the institution, our staff and our students.<\/p>\n
— We know we are a leader in distance learning, but we want to stay there. While only eight of the 64 SUNY campuses have entirely completed the process, another 48 of them are moving toward some stage of completion.
\n— We would meet one of the steps to move toward more visibility in Open SUNY as a Plus campus.
\n— The opportunity for consensus building and self-evaluation during a review process involving a broad range of participants including senior administrators will enhance communication and long-term strategic planning for this area and the college.
\n— Participation would meet an Identified Initiative on the Distance Learning 2016-17 Unit Plan.
\n— Participation would meet a Recommendation from the Mission and Vision section of the most recent Distance and Online Learning Program Review.<\/p>\n
The IR process is designed to engage the campus leadership team representing academic leadership, as well as all of the functional and infrastructure areas covered by the quality indicators in the scorecard. You are receiving this email because the Institutional Readiness guidelines require the following positions be involved:

\nChief Student Affairs Officer
\nFaculty Governance Leader
\nDistance Learning Leader
\nLibrary Director
\nInstitutional Research
\nAcademic Leadership (Deans and DCs)<\/p>\n
There are there steps to the institutional readiness process. The first is the initial, two-hour meeting being held this week. Each of the other two steps involves an all-day meeting on campus with SUNY representatives. There also will be some meetings of additional campus stakeholders throughout the process.<\/p>\n
