The next proposal submission deadline date is Jan. 24, 2011 for the Feb. 14, 2011 Curriculum Committee meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The chairs of the committee are willing to assist anyone in the proposal process. To achieve a more philosophical overview at the same time as students are learning the practical application within the courses of ECCE 102 and 103. This course may also reinforce basic principles and support students- retention of information.<\/p>\n<p>3.2\tChange in Requirements &#8211; Public Administration Studies Program &#8211; Submitted by Dr. Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>Changing the programs required Computer Elective to a Computer or Restrictive Elective; Statistics course to include BADM 220-Statistics, Math 135 &#8211; Statistical Methods for Math and Science, and PSYC 275 &#8211; Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences; and change the Mathematics\/Natural Elective to a Free Elective.<\/p>\n<p>3.3\tNew Course &#8211; Medicolegal Investigations of Death &#8211; CRJS 247 &#8211; Submitted by Dr. Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>This course will be an elective; it will cover specific topics applicable to pathology and death scene Investigation.<\/p>\n<p>3.4\tChange in Course Number CRJS 180 to 280 &#8211; Substantive Criminal Law &#8211; Submitted by Dr.<\/p>\n<p>Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>3.5\tChange in Course Number &#8211; CRJS 181 to 281 &#8211; Procedural Criminal Law &#8211; Submitted by Dr.<\/p>\n<p>Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>These courses are case based and has proven difficult for students to interpret in their first semester. This course transfers to SUNY Albany as a 300 level course. It is felt that the students will have a better chance of academic success if they attempt the courses later in their academic year.<\/p>\n<p>3.6\tChange in Requirements &#8211; A.A.S. in Criminal Justice &#8211; Submitted by Dr. Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>The above submitted proposals &#8211; change in course numbers for CRJS 180 to 280 and CRJS 181 to 281 will require a change in requirements for the A.A.S. in Criminal Justice.<\/p>\n<p>3.7\tNew Course &#8211; CRJS 132 &#8211; Shelter and Rescue Management &#8211; Submitted by Dr. Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>This new course will be part of the proposed Animal Advocacy Certificate Program.  This course is designed to examine shelter regulations, issues with adoption and foster care, facility design, and shelter animals- needs.<\/p>\n<p>3.8\tChange in Prerequisite for CRJS 235 &#8211; Animal Protection Advocacy &#8211; Lobbying and Legislation &#8211; Submitted by Dr. Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>The proposal requests that the currently listed Prerequisite &#8211; CRJS Animal Law II to be listed as a Prerequisite or Corequisite.<\/p>\n<p>3.9\tNew Program &#8211; Animal Advocacy Certificate Program &#8211; Submitted by Dr. Ann Geisendorfer<\/p>\n<p>Currently, some of these courses are being offered at HVCC, but can only be taken as electives towards a degree program.  This area of study is growing rapidly across the globe. Colleges across the country are introducing more and more courses based on animal advocacy and law.  There are few programs like this one offered in this area of study.<\/p>\n<p>3.10 Change in Course Content and Catalog Description for TELT 205 Electronic Communications &#8212; Submitted by Anthony Kossmann<\/p>\n<p>3.11 Change in Course Content and Catalog Description for TELT 230 Telecommunications III &#8211; Submitted by Anthony Kossmann<\/p>\n<p>These two courses are changing content as well as changing catalog descriptions. In order to come in line with industry standard these proposals are in collaboration with the Verizon Nest Step Program.<\/p>\n<p>3.12 Change in course content, catalog description and Removal of Co-Requisite for TELT 220 Telecommunications II &#8211; Submitted by Anthony Kossman<\/p>\n<p>In order to come in line with industry standard this proposal are in collaboration with the Verizon Nest Step Program.<\/p>\n<p>3.13 Change in Course content for TELT 240 Telecommunications IV &#8211; Submitted by Anthony Kossman<\/p>\n<p>Topics in communication need to evolve with applicable technology.  Without up to date training students will not be successful upon completion of the program. In order to come in line with industry standard this proposal are in collaboration with the Verizon Nest Step Program.<\/p>\n<p>3.14 Change to Pre-requisite and Catalog Description for ELET 245 &#8211; Introduction to Microcontrollers &#8211; Submitted by Anthony Kossman<\/p>\n<p>It is not academically necessary for a student to have previously completed ELET 210 before entering ELET 245. A student will be just as successful if they take them together.
