{"id":9935,"date":"2017-10-03T12:03:43","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T16:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/professor-tamu-chambers-invited-to-present-at-conference-in-ghana\/"},"modified":"2017-10-03T12:03:43","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T16:03:43","slug":"professor-tamu-chambers-invited-to-present-at-conference-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/professor-tamu-chambers-invited-to-present-at-conference-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Tamu Chambers invited to present at conference in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tamu Chambers, a professor in the Department of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences, is invited to present at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.as-aa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">African Studies Association of Africa<\/a> (ASAA) second Biennial Conference upcoming Oct. 12 to 14, 2017 at the University of Ghana at Legon in Ghana, Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The abstract for Professor Chambers&#8217; presentation is entitled &#8220;21st Century Deconstructing History and Debunking Myths about African and African American Women in Print, Literature and Social Media: Michelle Obama, America\u2019s First African American Lady &#8216;Talking Back&#8217; \u2013 Vanquishing Stereotypes.&#8221; The conference theme, &#8220;African Studies and Global Politics&#8221; is addressed in 40 panels, six plenary sessions and 32 posters sessions selected from the more than 160 proposals submitted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This opportunity provides experiential and educational possibilities in enhancing <em>African American History<\/em>, <em>African History<\/em>, <em>Cultural Diversity in American Society<\/em>, as well as my Sociology courses,&#8221; Ms. Chambers said.
