The second meeting of the Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (AIE) Committee was held on Sept. 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. The meeting minutes are as follows:<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Dr. Margaret Geehan announced the upcoming SCoA session on Curriculum Mapping that will take place at MVCC on Oct. 24, 2017. Karen Ferrer-Muniz reported that the SUNY Interim Provost has placed all work on the Shared Governance rubric on hold. It will not be available this semester as was hoped. Dr. Geehan expressed interest and the possibility that the AIE Committee could work on developing the rubric independent of the SUNY effort if the hold continues indefinitely.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Dr. Geehan began discussion of the fall assessment of advisement at HVCC. Some discussion ensued regarding who has responsibility for overseeing advisement. Dr. Geehan told the group that she was developing a draft survey to be used with students and would share it with the AIE Committee, and then DCs, advisors, and other stakeholders for their input. A multi-layer approach will be used, soliciting feedback from advisors, DCs, deans, etc. There was agreement with Ms. Karen Paquette\u2019s recommendation to share student, DC and advisor survey results with incoming Interim VPs to bring them up to speed with the current state.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Dr. Michael Green and Dr. Geehan led the discussion on the Middle States Standards. For each standard, suggestions were offered as to where responsibility\/accountability lies, how measures are collected and finally how or if they were currently assessed. Dr. Green expressed that we have made progress on most standards especially V, VI and VII, though assessment elements need to be developed in a few areas. Further discussion will take place at subsequent meetings. It was agreed that minutes from AIEC meetings would be placed in the Campus Chronicle going forward. All will have an opportunity to view and approve minutes per usual via e-mail prior to publication.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Copies of the Committee Charge were distributed. Dr. Geehan asks members to review same and offer comments\/edits at next meeting.<\/p>\n
