What’s next for Blackboard?

As you may have heard following the September Senate meeting, there is a new look coming to Blackboard. Throughout the past couple of years, Blackboard has been working on a new responsive, modern, and accessible design interface for Blackboard called Ultra. The path to the Ultra Experience starts with moving to the SaaS deployment of Learn which we completed in August 2016. The next step is choosing whether to immerse in the full Ultra experience or first enable the Ultra Base Navigation, which provides the same Original Course view with the benefits of the new modern, intuitive, and responsive environment.

This short video, “Introduction to Blackboard Learn with the Ultra Experience for Instructors,” provides an overview of what to expect.

What’s next for Hudson Valley Community College?

We are testing a new theme for our Blackboard version which could be an incremental step toward the new look and feel of Ultra without any significant functional changes.  In collaboration, the Distance and Online Learning staff, the IRC, and the “campus testers” will begin preliminary testing of the Ultra Base Navigation and Experience to determine the next steps such as timeline, pilot, etc.

To explore the Ultra Experience now, you can create an account on Blackboard CourseSites for free and import your course.

If you have any questions, please contact Distance and Online Learning staff at dlhelp@hvcc.edu or (518) 629-7070.
