Registration Calendars: Summer 2011, Fall 2011 and Spring 2012

Hello Employees,

In an effort to Go Green, the registration calendars for the above-mentioned terms are located on the Registrar’s page of the website https://www.hvcc.edu/registrar/index.html#regcal.

As you will see, all of the information within the calendars regarding bill runs, tuition due dates, schedules dropping for non-payment, late registration, and add/drop dates are specific to the parts of term involved.

Highlighted below are some new and general-news reminders regarding the process. As always, we appreciate your attention to these details.

Commitment Date (fall only): Friday, July 1, 2011 – Students who schedule classes on or before July 1 for the fall semester must pay a $50 tuition deposit to demonstrate their commitment to attend the college in the fall. Matriculated students may also meet this requirement if a FAFSA has been filed by June 17 with Hudson Valley Community College for the upcoming academic year. Students who have not satisfied this requirement by the close of business on July 1 will have their class schedules dropped.

Cross-Registration: The first day students from other consortium colleges will be allowed to register for classes is the Wednesday after classes have begun for each part of term (please see registration calendars for the start date of each part of term).

Course Reserve Drop Date: Fall 2011 – Friday, July 1, 2011 & Spring 2012 – Thursday, December 1, 2011

Bill printing: The first bill run occurs approximately 60 days before the start of each term to coincide with the date that students can obtain a valid certificate of residence. Students may pick up a bill in person after this date at the Cashier’s Office. Bills will continue to be mailed for those parts of term that have not yet begun as noted on the calendar. For a schedule of bill runs, see the enclosed calendars.

Tuition Due Dates: You will notice that there are several tuition due dates immediately preceding the first date that schedules are dropped for non-payment. Students will be assigned one of the tuition due dates and it will be noted on their tuition bill. No schedules will be dropped for non-payment, however, until the date that is identified on the attached calendar. The assignment of multiple tuition due dates has been done in an attempt to better manage workflow and to control traffic on these dates. To ensure equal access to scheduling for all students, web registration will close at the same time as the close of business on the day that courses are dropped for non-payment and re-open at 8 a.m. on the next business day. Please be reminded that no initial registration or course add/drops will take place through the Registrar’s Office until In-Person Registration. Students must contact their academic advisors prior to this date to do so.

Web Registration: To ensure equal access to scheduling for all students, web registration will close at the same time as the close of business on the day of courses being dropped for non-payment and re-open at 8 a.m. on the next business day.

Late Registration & Add/Drop: The late registration and add/drop periods coincide. The dates are noted on the attached calendars. Students who are already registered may adjust times and courses during this time period. The Registrar’s Office can only adjust times for matriculated students (all other changes must be done by their advisor). The Registrar’s Office will also schedule and add/drop non-matriculated students during this time period.

Thank you,

David E Scott Jr

Associate Registrar
